Catie Bronte is a 2026 graduate of UC Santa Cruz and Balance’s head of database development. Her work primarily lies at the intersection of computer and environmental science, and brings a technological angle to the firm’s projects. Catie joined Balance to assist with general database and application development for hydrologic data and has since expanded her role to project work involving water quality analysis and historic data archiving for model development. Catie continues to augment her solid problem-solving skills and expertise in Python, R, C, SQL, and machine learning with experience in field sampling, hydrologic monitoring, and hydrologic data—all a big jump from her college research on fog and work on the FERP (Forest Ecology Research Plot), but Catie is always ready for any new challenge. After work, she likes to step away from the computer and either try a new artistic medium, or go hiking where few people ever go.
