Dr. Brigid (Lynch) Bender is an experienced geomorphologist and hydrologist with a background in watershed restoration, hydrologic monitoring, and GIS analyses. She has successfully led and contributed to projects focused on long-term geomorphic monitoring, watershed-scale restoration opportunity evaluations, sediment source assessments, and restoration design. As the GIS lead at Balance, Brigid specializes in remote analysis, developing field-ready GIS tools, and creating impactful visualizations. She earned her Ph.D. from Indiana University, where she applied numerical models to channel evolution and erosional processes and led field campaigns in southern Peru to collect sediment samples used to quantify uplift rates in the Central Andes. When Brigid’s not in the office, she’s likely trying out a new recipe in the kitchen while attempting to avoid stepping on her senior dog, who likes to lie nearby to clean up any spills.
